Mixteca Alta Formative Project (2003-present)
This project concerns the origins of the Mixtec civilization, social inequality and change in early village societies, and the transition to urbanism. Excavations at the ca. 1000 BC site of Tayata are supported by the H. John Heinz III Fund, the National Geographic Society, and the National Science Foundation.
